What is a DNS leak?
When you browse the internet, your device sends DNS queries to resolve domain names (e.g., "google.com" → IP address). A DNS leak occurs when these queries bypass the VPN tunnel and go directly to your ISP's DNS servers — revealing the sites you visit even when you believe the VPN is protecting you.
How SkyDomeVPN prevents DNS leaks
- All DNS queries are routed through SkyDomeVPN's private, encrypted DNS servers.
- The app enforces DNS routing at the system level, preventing OS-level bypass.
- IPv6 traffic is also routed through the VPN to prevent IPv6-based leaks.
How to test for DNS leaks
- Connect to SkyDomeVPN.
- Visit dnsleaktest.com and run the Extended test.
- All DNS resolvers listed should show SkyDomeVPN's infrastructure, not your ISP.
- If your ISP appears in the results, contact support.
